MINI QUILOTOA LOOP – Full Day
Quito – Sigchos – Chugchilán – Quilotoa –Pujilí – Quito
Enjoy a true adventure in the Quilotoa Loop Circuit and the Grand Canyon of the Toachi River. A day of exploration in the Western Cordillera of the Andes.
After breakfast in the city of Machachi, we head west, passing through the towns of Toacazo, Sigchos, and in the village of Chugchilán, we visit a traditional Andean house, a recommended stop for acclimatization and coca tea.
Around the “Los Ilinizas” Ecological Reserve, on the way to the volcanic lagoon, we appreciate the “Grand Canyon of the Toachi River”. Upon reaching the Quilotoa Community, we have free time for: the Craft Market, Crater Viewpoints, a walk to Quilotoa Lagoon, and lunch.
On the way back, we pass through the communities of Zumbahua and Pujilí to your hotel in Quito (or connection to Baños).
ACTIVITIES
- Breakfast and supply stop in the city of Machachi
- Visit to a traditional Andean house for acclimatization, coca tea tasting, and Andean snacks.
- Viewpoint of the Grand Canyon of the Toachi River
- Arrival at the Quilotoa Community with viewpoints of the Volcanic Lagoon.
- Descent to Quilotoa Lagoon; there are recommended activities such as Kayaking, motorboat, or horseback riding back to the Community.
- Free time to explore the Craft Market and lunch in Quilotoa.
- Return to Quito¿Qué llevar?
What to Bring?
- Make sure to bring: Comfortable and suitable clothing for high-altitude and cold-weather places
- Cap or hat
- Use sunscreen, sunglasses, and bring hydration
- Scarf, gloves, long socks, and an extra change of clothes that can be left in the vehicle
